Petrol Head
Trapped again in his isolated hometown, Jake, struggling with anxiety and agoraphobia, must make a choice. A choice between the safety of a life he used to know, of standing still, or the danger of a high stakes rally club with his friend Yas. An alternative coming-of-age film that deals with mental illness, finding your drive again, and cars going very, very fast.
Co- Director Jasper Frost. Born in London, he is a director of stage and screen who trained at Mountview. He recently directed the music video for Adult Fiction’s ‘Down to Zero’, as featured in Netflix’s Fate: The Winx Saga. His professional theatre directing debut won The Stagedoor Audience Favourite Award (2018). Since then he has gone on to direct several sell-out shows, including Rosaline and Juliet (Edinburgh Fringe, 2023) and SYMBIONT (2022), the latter of which was described as "both heartbreaking and joyous, capturing the impossible challenges of terminal illness". Together, Jasper and Patrick run the award-winning creative company Caged Bird.
Co- Director Patrick Swain (also the writer) BIO: Patrick Swain is the writer and co-director of Petrol Head, and a writer for stage and screen. Hailing from Poynton, he trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, was a member of the National Theatre's Young Writers program, and the Hampstead Theatre’s Inspire Programme. He shot the NASTA-award winning short Grounded, and is also the director and co-writer of the web series Garry Sullivan’s Bohemian Utopia (2022).
