Niall Duffy was born in Donegal, Ireland. Growing up on the north-west coast of rural Ireland, he developed a keen interest in film from an early age. Inspired by Irish history and compelled by the captivating landscape surrounding him, he formed a desire to tell unique and original stories.
His inaugural short film, THE ROCK IN THE SEA, is a period piece set in medieval Ireland featuring two Celtic monks on an isolated island, confronting fears of grief, despair, and identity. Filmed in the aftermath of a national lockdown, it has to date received 39 international awards.
