Stafford Film Festival announces 2026 screenings in Stockholm and Staffordshire

The 2026 edition of the Stafford Film Festival will screen in two places, and for the first time one of them is outside the United Kingdom.

Stockholm, 2 August 2026

The festival travels to Stockholm on 2 August 2026. This first Swedish screening is a private industry screening for distributors and industry professionals. It is not open to the public.

We know that will disappoint some people, and we would rather say so plainly than let anyone book travel on a misunderstanding. Further Stockholm screenings open to the public are intended, and when they are arranged they will be announced on the newsletter before anywhere else.

Stoke-on-Trent, Sunday 6 September 2026

The UK screening is provisionally set for Sunday 6 September 2026 at the Mitchell Arts Centre in Stoke-on-Trent. That date and venue are provisional and awaiting final confirmation, so please treat them as such until we say otherwise here.

Stoke-on-Trent is part of Staffordshire, and moving the screening there is deliberate. The festival grew up in Stafford and this is the beginning of it reaching across the county rather than sitting in one town. Further UK locations will be announced if they are secured.

What stays the same

Filmmakers are encouraged to attend, to take questions after their films, and to talk to the audience and to each other. That has been the point of this festival since 2021 and it does not change because the map has.
