Free parking at Tesco for the 6 September screening
If you are coming to the Mitchell Arts Centre on Sunday 6 September 2026, you can park at Tesco Extra on Clough Street in Hanley and qualify for free parking. This applies to filmmakers attending the screening and to anyone else coming on the day.

What you have to do to qualify
Free parking is not automatic. You have to tell the venue you are there. On arrival at the Mitchell Arts Centre, go to reception, say that you have parked at Tesco, and give them your car registration number. Reception registers it and your parking is then covered.
Two things worth being blunt about. First, do this when you arrive rather than when you leave, because reception is busiest at the end of a block and it is easy to forget. Second, if you do not register the vehicle you are parking as an ordinary Tesco customer and the car park time limit applies to you. Parking is at your own risk, as it is in any public car park.

The two sit close together. The rear of the Tesco site is reached from old Clough Street, and the venue is a short walk of roughly five minutes from there, uphill into Hanley town centre and onto Broad Street. The Mitchell Arts Centre is a red brick building with a glass canopy over the entrance and its name across the front, so it is hard to miss once you are on Broad Street.

If you would rather park elsewhere
There is a pay and display car park on Broad Street immediately beside the venue, and a small number of accessible spaces on Broad Street directly in front of the entrance. Those are not covered by the Tesco arrangement and are paid for in the usual way.
Anything else
If you are unsure on the day, ask at reception. They handle this routinely and would rather sort it out at the door than have somebody worrying about it through a screening.
