Statue in the Garden
Didi moves into an unkempt house in the British city of Stoke-on-Trent. Whilst feeling ill at ease in this unfamiliar environment, she comes across a curious statue in the garden. This enchanting object helps Didi to appreciate the heritage of her new neighbourhood through an unexpected journey back in time.
Qianhui is an animation director and illustration artist based in Stoke-on-Trent, UK.
In 2020, she directed and animated short film ‘Wastopia’, as her Royal College of Art MA Animation graduation project. It premiered at Nowness Asia 2020, and was selected for the BFI Future Film Festival 2021, Brighton International Animation Festival 2022 and British Shorts Film Festival 2021.
In 2022, she directed and animated a short film for Mexican based Publisher Can Can Press, which was exhibited at Illustrator 65 in The Museum of American Illustration. In 2023, she was commissioned by GIPHY.
She has made editorial animations and illustrations for Bloomberg Businessweek, New York Times Book Review, Penguin Randomhouse and Faber Children. She is represented by London based talent agency POCKO.
